Show 4- Windows On The Wasatch Lehl The Lehi Memorial Building was named to the National Register of Historic Places, recently. Heber Miss Barbara Arnold was crowned the Wasatch County Dairy Princess Saturday, Apr. 10 in a pageant held at the Heber Stake Center. Barbara is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Arnold. She was selected from 16 contestants. Brigham City An Ogden man, who was injured when he rode a snowmobile into a cable strung across the Willard Peak road near Mantua on Feb. 4, 1981, has filed a suit against Box Elder county in connection with the accident. He is seeking (150,000 plus damages. Springville The Springville Museum of Art began its first fundraising telethon last week. Plans are to call every residence in Springville and Mapleton in an effort to gain 500 new members in the municipalities. The museum also plans to extend its efforts into Utah County to attract another 500 members during the next six months. Eureka Tintic Historical Society will feature "Utah's Native Americans", a historical slide-tape program on Monday, May 3rd, at 7:30 p.m., in the Memorial Building. Bountiful Davis County population reached 154,000 as of -July 1, 1981, according to Census Bureau figures. That's a jump of 6,100 over the previous year. First Presidency Comment On Nat Prayer Day May 6 The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has issued the following statement in support of President Reagan's recent proclamation of May 6, 1982, as National Day of Prayer: "In recognition of our constant need for divine guidance, we commend to all the proclamation of the President of the United States to observe Thursday, May 6, 1982, as National Day of Prayer. We encourage all people everywhere on that day-and day-and every day-to join in grateful, prayerful ackowledgement of God's divine majesty, wisdom, and goodness. "We need to kneel before the Lord daily, to thank him for our well-being and for his blessing of all mankind. "We plead with parents to call upon the Lord in daily prayer with their families, to seek His inspiration in-spiration in all they do." The statement was issued by President Spencer W. Kimball, world leader of the Church, and his counselors in the First Presidency, Presidents N. -. Eldon Tanner, Marion G. Romney, and Gordon B. Hinckley. Orem East Stake To Present Tribute To Women A Tribute to Women Concert and Fine Arts display is being sponsored by the Orem East Stake on Friday, May 7, 1982. The evening will focus on "A Tribute to Women: The Legacy -Remembered and Renewed." Three choruses, Relief Society, Young Women, and Primary will -perform along with solo and group musical numbers. The fine arts display will begin at 6:00 p.m. at the Orem East Stake Center with the concert beginning at 7:00 p.m. Following the concert, refreshments will be served culminating the evening's events. It will be a very special evening for all stake members ten years and older. Cancer Numerous studies and research projects have indicated the value of effective communication com-munication to reduce the stress and anxiety of cancer. A "Communication & Cancer" workshop will be held on Saturday, May 15 in Room 201, Malouf Hall at Westminster College, 1840 South 1300 East, for cancer patients and their families and health care professionals. The workshop will explore such topics as using communication as a coping skill to reduce stress 'and anxiety; couple communication and sexuality; family communication; communication com-munication between patient and health professional; coping i strategies to avoid bur- nout; death and dying,' and bereavement. speakers will include communication specialists, spe-cialists, oncology nurses, cancer patients and their families. Sessions will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Advance registration is required by May 5. The cost is $15 ($5 for cancer patients or family members) and includes all materials and refreshments except lunch. Freedom In America, ) "given by Mrs. Ophelia Bori. Her life in communist com-munist controlled Cuba was depicted. Mrs. Bori with her husband, Pelegrin and their seven children left relatives , there to come to the U.S. several years ago. She reported that the f economic conditions in t Cuba were much like ; those in the United States .until communistic rule . took over. After that time people were required to fat, think and dress as they . were told. Sur- - veillance of travel and job was constant. She related - of how long lines were t necessary in order to buy food and household items t and that there were times when there would be no more products. Only one pair of shoes were available during one . year. After lengthy negotiations, Mrs. Bori's -i mother-in-law acquired a visa to Mexico and subsequently the Peregrin Bori family . followed. Mrs. Cox received this honor because of her participation par-ticipation on the Bicentennial Bicen-tennial committee, director of the Heritage Center and other civic projects.
