Choir Gives 2 Concerts In Paris The most fantastic choir I've ever heardl This was the ecstatic comment comment of a Spanish duke who attended a concert of the Brigham Young University A Cappella Choir in Pris, France. And it was a typical response of the more than 6000 persons who listened to the internationally famed vocal ensemble, now on its second tour of Europe. Concert sites for the two performances per-formances were some of Paris's most famous buildings: the Cathedrals Ca-thedrals of Notre Dame andSaint Germain de Pres. Notre Dame de Paris was virtually vir-tually filled for the special concert, con-cert, which had received national television and press coverage. According to President Smith B. Griffin of the France Mission of the LDS Church, the BYU A Cappella Choir is the second American and first non-Catholic religious group ever to perform in Notre Dame. Because of the success of the short Sunday afternoon after-noon performance, The Most Reverend Father Lemoin, Archbishop Arch-bishop of Paris, gave Dr. Ralph Woodward, the choir's director, an open invitation to return to Paris for a full-scale evening concert in Notre Dame. The following night, the Cathedral Cathe-dral of Saint Germain de Pres provided an historic setting and marvelous acoustics for a second Paris concert. The two-hour program was applauded without restraint by more than 1500 who filled Paris's oldest cathedral, which dates back to the 9th century.
