Show Tigers Win Four Track Orem High School's track and field team grabbed the Region Four track title with ease in the ' meet held at the Y Stadium last week. The track title hungry Tigers Ti-gers racked up 83 points to 59 for Lehi who was their toughest competitor for region honors. The Tigers scored points in 13 of the 16 events and won the meet. In chalking up their win the Orem team also won the right to enter a strong team in the state meet to be held this Saturday at Salt Lake City. Darryl Pearce, Orem's hurdler deluxe, not only won the high and low hurdles, but in winning the high hurdles he beat the state record when he was clocked at : 14.1 second. The state record is : 14.2. In the low hurdles Pearce . and Craig Holmstead of Lehi put on a great race, as Pearoe barely nosed out Holmstead. The mile relay team of Orem, consisting of Vaughn Gourley, Dennis Hunt, Val Oveson, and Harlan Neilson, set a record for four laps at 3:30.0. James Blaylock, Orem's great pole vaulter, grabbed another an-other first by going over the tall timber at 13-11 3 31aylock failed to go over the fourteen foot mark in his extra try. Hal Goulding, another fleet-footed Tiger, won the 880. Sixth Ward Wins Stake Track Meet Orem 6th ward surpassed the field at the second annual Orem Stake Explorer-Ensign track meel held last Saturday atOrem Junior High, winning both the Explorer division and the Ensign division.
