Fawn Wyatt of Orem receives theU.S. Air Force Airman's Medal for voluntary risk of life from Colonel Hiram P. Bilyeu, commander of the 55th Weather Squadron. Sergeant Harris received the medal at Eielson AFB, Alaska, for saving a manand boy from drowning drown-ing while serving at Travis AFB, Calif. Alpine Man Decorated For Heroism FAIRBANKS, ALASKA - Staff Sergeant David N. Harris, son of Albert G. Harris of Alpine, Utah, has been decorated with the U.S. Air Force Airman' Medal, Eielson Eiel-son AFB, Alaska, for heroism at the voluntary risk of his life. Sergeant Harris was cited for saving a man and boy from drowning drown-ing on July 8, 1967, at Clear Lake, Calif. Hearing cries for help, the sergeant plunged into the lake fully clothed and swam to the spot where the two disappeared beneath be-neath the surface. After two dives, Sergeant Harris Har-ris located them brought them to the surface and towed them over 100 feet to shallow water. Sergeant Harris, whose mother Mrs. Fawn Wyatt, lives at 946 South 200 East, Orem, is a maintenance main-tenance scheduler with the 55th Weather Reconnaissance Squadron Squad-ron at Eielson. A 1955 graduate of Weber High School in Ogden, Utah, the sergeant ser-geant entered the Air Force in 1952. He was stationed at Travis AFB, Calif., before goingtoEiel-son. goingtoEiel-son. His wife, Dorthy, is the daughter daugh-ter of Mrs. Laura Pace of Jones-boro, Jones-boro, La. Randall II. Knight On A.E Duty At Thailand Base THAILAND - Sergeant Randall H. Knight, son of Burdell D. Bunnell of 638 S. MainSt.,Orem,' is on duty at Ubon Royal Thai AFB, Thailand. Sergeant Knight, a precision measuring equipment technician, is a member of the Pacific Air Forces. Before his arrival in Thailand, he was assigned to ChanuteAFB, 111. The sergeant is a 1962 graduate of Orem High School. His wife, Lorna, is the daughter daugh-ter of Lorin R. Mangum of 780 W. 400 N., Orem. v o Pvt. Raymond H. McKinney Raymond McKinney Graduates From Recruit Training , SAN DIEGO - Marine Private Raymond H. McKinney, son of Mr. and Mrs. George R. McKinney McKin-ney of 4.6 N. 800 W., Orem, was graduated from-eight weeks of recruit training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot here. He will now undergo from two to four weeks of individual combat com-bat training and then, after leave at home, will report to his first Marine Corps assignment. The intensified Marine recruit training emphasizes rigid physical phys-ical conditioning and survival techniques, both at sea and ashore. to develop self-c6nfldence and endurance. en-durance. Marksmanship with the , M-14 rifle and 45-caliber pistol are equally stressed, and close order drill instills the traditions of Marine Corps teamwork. A thorough study of basic military mil-itary subjects, hygiene, first aid and sanitation, and the customs, courtesies, history and mission of the Marine Corps serve to polish pol-ish the new Marine's recruit education ed-ucation and prepare him to join the Marine combat forces. Juber Serves With Attack Squadron LEMOORE, CALIF. -Aviation Structural Mechanic Airman Apprentice Ap-prentice Kenneth R, Juber, USN, of 649 W. 120 N., Orem, and husband of the former Miss Ales-ia Ales-ia K. Haley of 1256 Parkcrest Circle, Salt Lake City, is serving serv-ing with Attack Squadron 122, Naval Air Station, Lemoore, Calif. His squadron is the Pacific Fleet Replacement Training Squadron for pilots flying the A7A 'Corsair U" light attack jet aircraft. t. !uz Lt. Daneen L. Steen On Navy Duty at DaNang, Vietnam DANANG, VIETNAM - Quartermaster Quar-termaster Third Class NathanT. Steen, USN, son of Major (Ret.) and Mrs. Philip M. Steen of 351 E. 720 S., Orem, reported for duty with the U.S. Naval Support Activity at Danang, Vietnam. The activity, the Navy's largest overseas shore command, sup-poTts sup-poTts more than 175,000 American Ameri-can and Allied forces in the five northernmost provinces in South Vietnam. Tons of cargo are moved each month to the fighting men on the front line. The activity moves everything from bullets to road-graders road-graders and aviation gasoline.
