Mountain Goat Population Up Utah's Rocky Mountain goat population increased by five last week with the arrival of two male and three female goats from the northwest. Rocky Mountain goats are not native to the State of Utah and they are generally found in areas where they should not compete with either livestock or other big game animals so their intro duction is a welcome addition to the list of big game animals of Utah. Utah hunters may hunt deer, elk. antelope, moose, buffalo and bighorn sheep; perhaps someday the Rocky Mountain goat will be added to this list. All five of the new goats were lifted from Big Cottonwood Canyon Can-yon to the release site by helicopter heli-copter so they would join with the other goats released earlier this month.
