In a meeting scheduled to allow Mountainlands an opportunity to discuss affordable housing with the Planning Commission, Scott Loomis. the trust s .executive director, direc-tor, cautioned that Park City must jcorrtinue to provide 'housing for local workers. ' Be cited a study that in 2000 ifound a 800-unit shortage of a Iford-Jsble Iford-Jsble housing within Park City and said that outlying places do not want to become the place where Park City workers live. Instead. Park City heeds more housing, he said. ' "The people there are not interested inter-ested in being bedroom communities communi-ties lor Park C'itv," Loomis said. However, Loomis also admitted thai that there might be no place to build affordable housing in the city. There are a lew proposed affordable-bousing developments within the city but others ought be elusive, he said. "In the immediate future, I dont see any viable projects in Park City," Loomis said. He urged the Planning Commission to ensure city developers develop-ers adhere to their affordable -bousing requirements. I'he Planning Commission asked Loomis a few questions about Che topic, ueh as how other places, including the 'Snyderville Basin, are handling affordable-bousing dilemmas. dilem-mas. Park City Councilman Jim Hier received criticism after he suggested that a city-owned piece of ground on Holiday Ranch Loop Road could be a future site for affordable housing. At the meeting, meanwhile, ithe Planning Commission gave mods to two affordable -housing projects. Commissioners approved an KU-unit KU-unit Park City Mountain Resort project at 1375 Munchkin Road. The housing on Munchkin Drive was an obligation from the resort s W7 base-area redevelopment approval.
