Mountain Life began in the summer sum-mer of 1992 when a group of area residents determined the need for a new church with a strong emphasis on relevant Bible teachings, friendliness friend-liness to newcomers, and a children and youth ministry. In the early days of the church, 50 to 75 people would gather at Carden Christian Academy for worship and Sunday School. Over time, the congregation congrega-tion grew and, in October of 1993, the congregation took a leap of faith and called Pastor Scott Fine and family to lead and administer to the growing congregation. In these early years, their was a strong desire to acquire land and build. A committee was put in place which found that both land and building were very expensive in the area. The search began for a parcel of land on which to build. An 1 1-acre parcel was found one-half one-half mile up Silver Creek Road and a building fund was established which raised enough money within the congregation to pay for the land in full. It then took another two years to go through the rather strenuous re-zoning and approval process with the county. There were further complications which included includ-ed wetland issues and a water moratorium that was put in place towards the end of the approval process. Eaton Mahoney and Associates were secured as architects and, with much hard work and faith, building on the parcel began late in the winter win-ter of 2001. The building, constructed construct-ed by Mission General Construction, includes close to 18,000-square feet of finished space with a parking lot for more than 150 cars. The sanctuary has the capacity to seat over 400 and takes full advantage of the beautiful views of all three ski resorts. A central feature fea-ture of the design is a large, inviting entry foyer with vaulted ceilings and a beautiful fireplace. This space will be used to enhance good fellowship, fel-lowship, provide a warm welcome and the building of friendships. Other amenities include space for the office staff, nine classrooms for Sunday school, a loft area for use by the youth group and a nursery and Let Us Help You WELCOME trie WORLD ROCKY MOUNTAIN Baskets and Gipts Inc. 1351 Kearns Blvd., 140 Park City 435 .655.3344 www.rocky mountainbaskets.com toddler area. Thanks to a generous! amount of flat area surrounding the; church, a large patio was built for " outdoor gatherings in warm weather weath-er months. A typical Sunday morning finds the congregation singing praises with contemporary music and worshipping, wor-shipping, led by the Director of Church Worship, Darrin Huntting. This is followed by an informal time of sharing and prayer by the adults with school-aged children being dismissed to go to Sunday school classes. A nursery is available each week for smaller children. Pastor Scott then shares a Biblically-based message to encourage people in their daily living and their growing relationship with God and each other. At the conclusion of worship, all gather for fellowship and friendship friend-ship building. "People tend to find that Mountain Life is a very warm and welcoming congregation," said Pastor Scott. "Our congregation consists of people from many dif-; ferent types of church backgrounds who enjoy being part of a loving and caring Biblical-based community." commu-nity." Mountain Life will meet for worship wor-ship each Sunday at 10 a.m. Many small groups for men, women, single sin-gle adults and couples meet throughout the week. A separate program for junior and senior high students is also provided under the leadership of Steve Thurin and a very involved parent committee; For more information, contact the church at 647-5855 or stop by for a tour at 7375 N.
