The Sacramento, Calif.-based Local Government Commission gave the city an'Ahwahnee Award for the transit center. The, awards recognize projects that make a community more livable. The group notes the project cleaned up contaminated soils and is a hub for regional transportation. Previously, the transit tran-sit center won two state awards from the Quality Growth Commission. Italians rent seniors' facility by Jay Hamburger OF THE RECORD STAFF Park City has inked another Winter Olympic rental, handing over the senior center to an Italian . delegation for the Games. Last week, the Park City Council approved a $70,000 deal with a company com-pany representing the Italian Skiing Federation for the property. The rental runs from Feb. 1 to March. 1. The Italians want to use the building as a hospitality center. Park City has made arrangements arrange-ments for senior citizens that use the building regularly. The city will bus the seniors to other centers in the county or to St. Mary's Catholic Church on S R. 224. Senior citizens could also volunteer for the Italians: The city must clear out the building. build-ing. .The Italians will then re-furnish the space.
