So too did the scoreboard Park City 62, Judge Memorial 58. In what some fans called the greatest win ever for the Park City girls basketball program, the Miners erased a six-point deficit 00(S)30Cfr aiffiteffii2p SW mimuz FOR0tOy$99M UMilidMltMMiitlSM SM (Ml tf3 raSPi rF3J S,ore Record with four minutes to play to knock off the speedy Bulldogs. With the win, Park City improved to 8-8 overall and, more importantly, to 2-3 in Region 10. "It's a huge win for us," Crandall said. "I couldn't be more happy we played like I knew they could play." With Park City locked in a battle for a playoff spot, the Miners couldn't afford to drop further in the region standings. "We had to win this game," Crandall said. "Judge Memorial is a team in our region and it's a really good team." The Bulldogs are also a team that now find themselves in the same position as the Miners a fight for a playoff spot. With the loss, Judge Memorial fell to 2-3 in region (6-9 overall) and into a three-way tie with Park City and Uintah. Wasatch remained undefeated unde-feated with Wednesday's win over Uintah, and Union improved to 4-1 with a victory over Granite. Beyond keeping the Miners in the race, Crandall says the win lifted his team's spirits. "When you beat a good team, you Ted great," the coach said. "And it's good for the girls to feel like that. I think this will give us a lot more confidence." That's good news for a team beset with injuries and illness, and still devastated by a 89-39 shellacking at Wasatch on Jan. 9 and a disappointing defeat at home against Uintah on Jan. 11. But the memories of early-season losses started to fade Wednesday, as the Miners used a balance scoring attack to overcome over-come the Bulldog's superior quickness and outside shooting. Chelsea Steinbach had her best game as a Miner, scoring 13 points while giving Park City excellent post defense and rebounding. It was the type of performance Crandall was looking for, as he told his girls before the game that because of injuries and sickness, everybody had to step it up a notch. "I thought that I had to put my all into it," said Steinbach, a junior jun-ior forward pressed into playing IWIfd A(JO20O01 RKWtSkiOI16rc Fwi 0122D? "The coaches told me I had to step up, so I tried not to foul and just play my hardest." Steinbach and her teammates were at their best late in the game, when they used a 22-9 fourth-quarter run to come from behind and knock off the Bulldogs. Down 57-53 with two minutes to play, Steinbach sank a jump shot despite getting fouled. She converted the free throw to cut the Bulldogs' lead to one.
