Cowboy poetry to benefit Holy Gross Park Record Thursday, May i, rage m Wedding Cowboy poets will present an evening of prose Saturday, May 30, at Pioneer Trails State Park Social Hall, 2601 Sunnyside Avenue. - Proceeds from the event will benefit the Holy Cross Breast Care Services Outreach Program. The evening will include an authentic western barbecue, country music and dancing with Rosewood, and a reading from Utah author Pam Houston. Ms. Houston newest book is Cowboys Are My Weakness. In addition, Utah cowboy poets Don Kennington, Duane Kerr and Matt Urry will recite their poems for the event. The evening will be hosted by Wayne Owens and Paula . Julander. , The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a social, followed by dinner -at 7 p.m., and poetry and dancing at 8pjn. Tickets are $25 per person. Air Force announces recruitment is up Layla and Tom Ward Knox-Ward nuptials Layla Marie Knox and Thomas Michael Ward were married on May 2, 1992 at the Shepherdstown Presbyterian Church in Shepherdstown, West Virginia. The bride is the daughter of Ed and Claudia Knox and Esther and Duncan Gillies. The groom is the son of Walter and Marilyn Ward. Both bride and groom are former Park City residents. Friends and acquaintances in Park City wish them much happiness. Despite the current military downsizing, the Air Force will recruit almost 20 percent more people in fiscal 1992 than k did last year. "Even though the Air Force is getting smaller, this year we have even more enlisted job opportunities than last year," said Lt. Col. Richard Ourand, Jr., Commander of the 3568 US AF Recruiting Squadron, located at Hill AFB, Utah. This year's Air force enlisted recruitment goal is 36,100-- up 5,500 from the fiscal 1991 enlisted accessions total "Although the Air Force is shrinking, we must still bring in a steady number of recruits to meet not only today's requirements, but tomorrow's requirements for experienced technicians and supervisors," said Ourand. "The Air Force continues to be a leader in offering a viable employment option to our nation's youth.
