Brenden Stark and Brayden Bjarnson were the top readers from the 4th grade. The 5th grade top readers were Cabby Hammond and Hannah Blonquist MaKade O'Brien and Jordon Ockey were the top 6th grade readers. Sage Creek teachers would like to thank the PTA for providing the Reading Counts program and helping our students become better readers. Westside Elementary first graders celebrated Grandparents Day in February. The activities began in the gym with all the first graders singing three of their favorite Steve James songs and a song called "LOVE." Following the songs, grandparents were invited to their grandchild's classroom where the students read the "Important Thing About Grandparents" book they had written to their grandparents. They showed their grandparents around their classrooms and explained what kind of things they learn in first grade. Then Grandparents shared their first grade memories with their grandchild. The goals are to have a 12 percent per-cent reduction by water users us-ers by 2020 and 25 percent reduction by 2050. Mapleton City is currently addressing the state water conservancy mandate by utilizing a secondary sec-ondary water basin to store water for the pressurized irrigation ir-rigation in the city. ' The city is encouraging residents to use pressurized irrigation for their outdoor water usage instead of using the valuable culinary drinking drink-ing water. The new basin will assist more residents in being able to use the irrigation irriga-tion system Last week's meeting outlined out-lined the procedures for obtaining ob-taining permits and authorization authori-zation from the federal government. gov-ernment. There are several easements that will need to be obtained from private residents res-idents in order for the trail to proceed through the city of Mapleton. TheCUWCD wanted to stress to the residents resi-dents that the trail easement entitles the government to issue a no trespassing policy along the canal. This is for safety concerns while the pipe is being installed. The no trespassing policy pol-icy will be in effect until an agreement for a trail easement ease-ment is in place with Mapleton Maple-ton City and the Department of the Interior. This procedure pro-cedure could take several years.
