Student lead conferences con-ferences are a conversation between the student and the parent at the school. Student lead conferences conferenc-es are not about grades, student misbehavior or anything like a traditional parent teacher conference. Parents will be contacted and will be able to attend an appointment in the student's stu-dent's homeroom to discuss dis-cuss their student's portfolio port-folio of work. Students will be expected to lead the conference and will be able to show off some of their accomplishments in classes this year. This type of conference has been very successful in other schools and is a nice way to end the school year on a positive note. Most parents really enjoy being able to see their student's work and discuss it in detail de-tail with the student. Look for your invitation to come home soon. We hope to see you there. Poetry by Yeats is always a good choice but I would recommend the new est Maeve Binchy novel to and causing quite an uproar among the grand folk of Rossmore. Although there are no leprechauns, Father Flynn and his parishioners are enchanting. Each is given life. Apparently the rumor that she was retiring from writing writ-ing a few years ago was a bit of blarney from the emerald emer-ald isle because "Whitethorn Woods" has appeared in paperback pa-perback just recently. 'Tis a lilting collection of character sketches linked by the wee Irish town of Ross-more Ross-more and the magical well of St. Ann's where the desperate desper-ate seek a miracle. St. Ann was apparently the mother of Mary and although she could never have been to Whitethorn Woods, she has a much-visited shrine there. Women are said to have their wish for a husband or a baby granted by St. Ann. Husbands have seen her blessing upon their business or farm as it now prospers. True it is a wishing weD, but a holy one and a highly successful suc-cessful one. Now the shrine and woods are in danger of being destroyed de-stroyed by a new highway a chapter titled with their name and then allowed to explain their 'past sins and present odd behavior. Sometimes Some-times it feels like a series of short stories, as many were before being combined into this novel, but I actually liked . this format for this story.
