Students drove anything from tractors, helicopters and race cars as they paraded through the halls of the school. Although the vehicles were foot powered, many displayed sound effects to make the event more realistic for family members and fellow students. The students visited the Lincoln Memorial, Statue of Liberty, Mt Rushmore, the Eagle, the Liberty Bell, the White House, Betsy Ross and the first Old Glory. Influenza activity refers to the number of people who are ill with influenza-like illness. This is the 1 most activity seen in recent re-cent years, except for the 2005-2006 influenza season. sea-son. In the past week, 92 additional ad-ditional influenza-associated hospitalizations were reported in Utah. Some of these did occur during previous weeks because of reporting delays. This brings the state total to-tal for the 2007-2008 season sea-son up to 220 influenza-associated hospitalizations, compared to 143 at this time last year. The majority of influenza-associated hospitalizations hospital-izations this season are in individuals considered at higher risk for influenza-related influenza-related complications, such as: adults 65 years of age and older, children under 5 years of age and adults and children with serious medical conditions. condi-tions. Despite the fact that this years vaccine has a less-than-ideal match to some of the circulating influenza influ-enza strains, vaccination continues to be recommended. recom-mended. The vaccine provides some protection against related strains and reduces reduc-es the risk for influenza-related influenza-related complications and deaths.
