Show no SPRINGVILLE HERALD Thursday, March 6, 2008 Springville Playhouse Auditions for 'Hello Dolly' Springville Playhouse announces it will be holding hold-ing open auditions for its Art City Days production of "Hello Dolly" on Friday, Fri-day, Mar. 14, from 7 to 10 p.m. and Saturday, Mar. 15, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the theater under the Springville Library. All parts except that of Dolly Levi are available. Please be prepared to do cold readings from the script and to sing 16 bars from another broadway show of your choosing other oth-er than the one being auditioned au-ditioned for. A keyboard will be available for accompaniment accom-paniment or auditioners may bring a CD of their music. A CD player will be available at the theater. Numerous roles for both male and female actors aged 16 to 50 are available to be "cast. The show will open for Art City Days on ; June 6th and run each Friday, Fri-day, Saturday and Monday evening through June 28th. Scholar-ship. One young man and one young woman will be selected to receive $4000 towards their college expenses. ex-penses. Applications are available avail-able at Springville High School and must be turned in to Mrs. Moulton by March 26th. Winners will be announced in May at a school assembly. Chamber President and the 2007 Golf Tournament Chair, Vicky Curtis, expressed ex-pressed her concern that the $1000 scholarships the Chamber has offered in the past were not enough to truly help those deserving students in our area. She made it her goal to raise enough money with the golf tournament to be able to increase the scholarship amounts. The Chamber Board of Directors decided to award the $4000 to each of two students. The scholarships will be paid out $1000 year to the schools the recipients choose t&.atjend. : A transcript is not re-, re-, quired for, the,, application, . in fact, there is no question about grades at all for the initial applicants. Applicants will be asked to write three essays: one about employment history, one about volunteer experience expe-rience and one about a fictitious fic-titious business. Applicants are required to provide a letter of recommendation rec-ommendation from a business busi-ness leader or one of their clients and a recent photo graph. Last year there were no male applicants, appli-cants, y I It is the desire of the Chamber to fund these scholarships and give some students the great opportunity opportu-nity of attending the colleges col-leges of their choice. Household HazWaste Day volunteers sought Volunteers are needed for a Household Hazardous Hazard-ous Waste Collection Day to be held on March 15th at Utah Valley University. The South Utah Valley Solid Waste District, North Pointe Solid Waste Special Spe-cial Service District, and the Utah County Health Department are seeking individuals willing to help clean up there community for four hours that day. Volunteers will help unload materials from cars, traffic control, and other activities. Training and protective equipment will be provided.
