Valdez, 71, died April 29, 1981 at his home in Orem after a lingering illness. He was born in Amarilla. N.M. on June 29, 1909 to Delfido and Rosarito Martinez Valdez. He married Elvita Abeyta on June 29, 1931 in Lumberton, N.M. She died in 1979. Survivors include five sons and three daughters, Alonso H. Valdez, Wilfred J. Valdez, Mrs. James (Priscilla) Mecham, all of Provo; Larkey D. Valdez, Springville, Jose C. Valdez, American Fork; Gilbert H. Valdez, Sun Prairie, Wise; Mrs. Leontina Lopez, Orem; Mrs. Rolland (Adelia) Shultz, Madison, Wise; 35 grandchildre six great -grandchildren; two brothers and three sisters, Mrs. Dora Ferran, Orem; Juan Valdez, Ray Valdez, Mrs. T.
