Jacob, age 92 and Permelia, age 90, were married October 1, 1908 in the Salt Lake Temple. They are the parents of six children; Leo of Springville, Ivan on a mission to Canada, Mrs. Rex (Leola) Larsen of Salt Lake City, Mrs. Leonard (Eileen) Johnson of Sandy, LaZelle Duke of Provo and one deceased daughter. They have 20 grandchildren and 71 Locust Grove DUP held Camp Locust Grove DUP held their first meeting of the season on September 14 at the home of Captain Melba Smith. Cohostess was Janet Bird. Prayer was given by Janett Ullock; secretary Rose Nielsen read the minutes; pledge of allegiance was given by the group. Captain Smith announced the convention to be held in Salt Lake on September 29. She also reported on the convention con-vention that was held in Spanish Fork May 6. Mattie Davis will be the new lesson leader. She gave a tribute to Brigham Young and also said there were only a few phones and phonographs in the year 1878. Members were reminded to pay dues to be in by October 15 at $2 each. Lunch was served to 10 members. It was noted that over the years 16 members of Camp Locust Grove have died. The parents Hafen-Dallin autumn series set Hafen Dallin Art Club will begin its autumn series of meetings on (October 5, at the (Springville Museum of Art at 4:15 p.m. Bernice Cox of Orem will give a demonstration and talk on miniature circuses. The following activities have been planned by the club officers with Clara Johnson as President. Oct. 12- Kathy Brinkerhoff will demonstrate and explain tolepainting. Oct. 19- Jeniel Fugal of Pleasant Grove and first prize winner of many parade floats will show slides and tell about the floats she has designed. Oct. 26- The group will tour the Glen Tuner 'Beef for contest to The Utah Beef Council is sponsoring a contest to uncover unusually tasty recipes for beef. The contest is divided into four different catagories. The first is "Quick and Easy Beef Recipes" designed to save time and effort for the busy holiday deason. Recipes in this category might include those for the crock pot (which simmer while the cook is doing something else), or simple fry-pan mistures. The second category is "Beef for Holiday Entertaining." En-tertaining." These recipes fall into the "traditional family favorite" class which are Kelli Dalton turned one year old on September 21. Her parents are Blaine and Jolene Dalton and she has a brother, Cory. Grandparents are Arvin and Beulah Dalton, and Eldon and Leora Bennett, all of Springville. Happy birthday. Kelli. Cultural Arts Club to hear program on modern day polygamy The first club meeting of the Cultural Arts Club will be held at the home of Cora Ellis in Mapleton, Wednesday, October 4, at 8 p.m. Margo Mangum, Salt Lake City, will give a program of her experiences ex-periences with modern polygamy. the holid ays be sponsored prepared for special guests. Category number three is dedicated to "Beef and the Microwave" ideas. This group might include family-tested chili or casseroles. The last category is "Fun with Beef" and includes recipes for beef dips or beef pies for holiday parties. r'our Prizes of $100 in beef The incentive for entry in the "Beef for the Holidays" contest will be the $800 in beef prizes which will be awarded. The winner in each category will receive a certificate for $100 worth of Wirthlin's Beef, (a Salt Lake Supplier). New President Juanita Larabee presided. She welcomed the members and Helen Wheeler lead the group in the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. Lucile Laney read the club collect.
