Thanksgiving Let us be thankful, first, that we're still about, by God's grace, to give thanks. Let us be thankful that in every man, low-born or high, rich or poor, exists a seed germ of good needing but the moisture of human kindness to take root and grow; that in every man's soul God abides. Let us be thankful that we've still time left to add, by word or deed, to the happiness and well-being well-being of others and in so doing justify our presence on this earth. Let us be thankful for the sense of sight to gaze upon the greenery of springtime, and on the many colors of autumn leaves. ..For the sense of hearing, when in the presence of children laughing, or when lingering beside the waters of a clear brook singing its way to the open sea. ..For the sense of touch, the warm feel of the hand of a loved one pressed against our own, or that of a friend or even a stranger.. .For the sense of taste, the enjoyment of food and drink that gives us sustenance. ..For the sense of smell, of good earth newly turned, of fresh air, of fragrant flowers afield. And above all things else-let else-let us be ever mindful and thankful thank-ful for our merciful and ominisceent God, donor of these blessings all.
