"Ben" Bundy announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter Veda Rae to David L. Hatch, son of Mr. Delmar Hatch and Mrs. Evelyn Christensen of Springville. The couple plan to be married Nov. 22 in the Provo IDS Temple. An open house will honor them in Springville that evening at the First - Twelfth Ward Cultural Hall. The bride-to-be is a 1973 graduate of Dixie High School and has graduated from the Bryman School as a medical assistant. The prospective bridegroom graduated in 1968 from Springville High School, and attended Dixie College and Utah Technical College, and served an LDS mission in the Philippine Islands. The couple plan to make their home in Salt Lake City where Mr. Hatch is working for the telephone company. Thorpe family at get-together , The annual Thorpe Family reunion was held at the Social Center last Friday evening honoring their departed mother and grandmother, Mary Ruth Thorpe on her 114 birthday. Conserve all of the flavor of every edible part of the bird for the gravy by cooking a broth with the neck, gizzard, heart and liver. Use as the liquid for the gravy. After the bird has roasted, make the gravy in the roasting pan so that all of the browned bits from the bottom of the pan will be stirred into the gravy. The meat from neck, gizzard and heart are good chopped and mixed with the dressing. dress-ing. Add chopped liver to gravy. To be sure that the gravy will always be smooth and free from lumps, use Argo corn starch as the thickening agent. 4 cups turkey broth Vi cup fat drippings cup corn starch Bring broth to boil. Pour off fat drippings from roasting pan, reserving Vi cup. Return this amount to pan. Sprinkle corn starch into pan and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, about 5 minutes or until browned. Gradually add broth and bring to boil, stirring constantly, until gravy thickens. Add liver, salt, thyme and pepper. Simmer a few minutes. Makes 4 cups. For chicken, recipe may be halved. . Second-ranking participants in each state will receive $500 college grants. On April 20-25 of next year, the 51 state Family Leaders of Tomorrow will gather in Washington, D.C., for an expense-paid educational tour of the capital city and Williamsburg, William-sburg, Va. Personal observation and interviews of the state winners during the tour will be added factors in the selection of the 1975 Betty Crocker Family Leader of Tomorrow and three runners-up.
