Show V Tl ! i Vernal Express Wednesday, March 14, 2007 A3 Rotary auction brings in The Vernal Rotary Club host ed its annual "Kick Up Your Heels" auction at Western Park Saturday evening. Guests were entertained with musical num-bers num-bers by members of the Uintah School of Music and the Arts (USOMATA) and Dick Ufford delighted the audience with cowboy poetry. Mr. and Mrs. John Shimmin were presented with the Paul Harris Award for n V ) 1 Heroes Margarita Villalba, Andrew Smith, James Sjostrom and Adan Magana the Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge. 'We Believe The theme for the Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge, Utah Chapter, National Awards Luncheon on Feb. 14 was "We Believe in Heroes." The auction's total was over $10,000, with Travis Peatross, auctioneer, assisted by Reagan Torres, Ashleah Murray, Mike Goddard and Joe Evans. Over four-dozen items were auctioned auc-tioned to an enthusiastic group of bidders. Randy Upton served as clerk. Two of the top money i in Heroes' house fire on Dec. 10, 2006. Adan Magana received a military escort for the presentation presen-tation of his 2007 Heroes Award by Utah Lt. Gov. Gary Herbert. Cindy Perry and Julie Curry explained the objectives of Rotary to those who participated participat-ed in the events of the evening. Money earned from the auction auc-tion is used for various Rotary projects, such as high school and college scholarships, a first received awards at the "We Believe The Luncheon honored three additional heroes from throughout the state, including includ-ing one from the Uintah Basin - Margarita Villalba, Andrew Smith and James Sjostrom; eight National Award winners and a host of high school student stu-dent scholarship recipients from all over Utah.
