Show B.DAA FLASHES by Jim Abplanalp State League Gets Set The newly formed Utah State Baseball league is getting ready for opening activities scheduled for May 27. Officials of the new loop are expecting entry of another an-other club to fill the vacancy created when Sandy and Mid-vale Mid-vale decided to merge their two clubs into one. These two former entries in the Northwest league , decided to merge at the last State league meeting, due to the apparent ap-parent lack of material, but another an-other entry is expected to fill the eighth spot. Schedules for the new league have not been drawn up as yet, but the opening date is still set for Sunday, May 27. "Old Timers" May Meet There is a possibility of an added attraction for the local opening op-ening of the new baseball league, as a battle of "Old Timers" may be held prior to the regular league lea-gue game. If it can be arranged, a short but 'bitter few innings may be played between former Bingham and Magna veterans. We may have to issue a challenge to the neighboring Magna boys, as several former Bingham stars are eager to do battle again. Here are a few of the veterans who may be inviegled into this contest: Frank LaComb, Frank Zaccaria, Al Kastelic,, Bill Johnson, John-son, -Herb Babcock, Daryl Robertson, Ro-bertson, Les Sumnicht, Doty Bush, Johnny Pearson, "Spud" Morley, Gene Fish, Don Harrison and perhaps some others. This array of talent may scare the opposition op-position out, but there is a slim chance that these boys have slow ed up just a bit. Hope we qan negotiate this stupendous tussle, it will be the perfect sendoff for the new State league. Miners Win Another The local prep squad won an extra inning battle from Judge Memorial Wednesday at Copper-ton, Copper-ton, to keep their league record clean. Dick Susaeta won a hurling hurl-ing duel from Sullivan of Judge, as the final score read 3 to 2 for the locals. Bingham has now won four games against no losses, and seem well on their way to another region re-gion title. |
