Show Obituaries Killian services held August 17 Elma Merrill Adams Killian, 73, of Roosevelt, died Tuesday, August 16, 1994 at her daughter's home in Vernal. She was born August 17, 1920 in Upalco, Utah, a daughter of Charles Elwin and Rhoda Knight Merrell. She married John Quincy Adams on May 29, 1939 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died November 14, 1962. She married Clinton H. Killian on July 8, 1969 in Vernal. Elma was a homemaker and a very active member of the LDS Church. She served in many auxiliaries. She gathered volumes of genealogy and family histories. She enjoyed her family, friends and neighbors. Elma loved going to the mountains and also enjoyed a pretty sunset. She was a beautiful poet and wrote .many poems and tributes. She was preceded in the death by her first husband and one grandson, Clinton John Adams. Elma is survived sur-vived by her husband, Clinton H. Killian, Roosevelt, children and spouses Merrill J. and Judy Adams, Robert K. and Jackie Rcnwick, Mike and Dixie Miles, all of Vernal, Boyd and Judy Porter of Rock Springs, Wyo. and Craig and Trcna Adams of Logan; 20 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; sisters and brothers: Mrs. Arville (Violet) Watts, of Clifton, Colo., Earnest and Carol Merrell, of Grand Junction, Colo., Elwin and Kitty Merrell, of Fort Myers, Fla, Bill and Jane Shelley of Blue Springs, Mo. and Earl and Dorothy Merrell of Naples. Funeral Services were held Saturday, August 20, 1994 at the Roosevelt 5th Ward LDS Chapel with Bishop Dale C. Larscn conducting. con-ducting. Earl Merrell offered the family prayer with prelude and postlude music by Eloisc Adams. Larsen. A Tribute to Mother was given by Dixie Miles followed by a piano solo so-lo "O My Father" performed by Shalise Adams. Craig Adams spoke followed by a musical selection "Where is Heaven" by Shalise Adams,. Christopher Adams, Tyler Adams and accompanied by Trena Adams. President David Labrum spoke followed by remarks and a poem by Jackie Rcnwick. A duct, "How Great Thou Art," was performed by Brett Miles and Judy Porter, accompanied accom-panied by Trena Adams. The benediction was offered by Ted Priest. Pallbearers were Clark J. Adams, Lonn Porter, Lynn Porter, Larry Porter, Lance Porter, John Rcnwick, Joseph Rcnwick, Quinn Miles, Brett Miles, Christopher Adams, Tyler Adams and Brcndcn Adams. Interment was in the Dry Fork Cemetery under the direction of Thomson's Vernal Mortuary. Merrill Adams dedicated the grave widt compassionate services by Vernal 7th Ward Relief Society and Roosevelt 5th Ward Relief Society. ' i . - . t if " - r. . N f Leo Pierce Pierce passes away August 22 Leo "Boots" Wayne Pierce, 78, died August 22, 1994 at the Ashley Valley Medical Center. He was born Feb. 22, 1916 in Kingston, Oklahoma, a son of William L. and Maud Inez Davidson Pierce. Leo worked in the oilfield and later lat-er in the production department. He was a veteran of W.W.II and served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the American Legion, Whitbeck Post Leo enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He also collected belt buckles. He is survived by nieces' and nephew, Mrs. Nolan (Diane) MacKay of Vernal, Mrs. Ted (Linda) Pierce Olsen of Baytown, Tex. and Gary A. Pierce of Houston, Tex. Friends may call at Thomson's Vernal Mortuary Wednesday evening 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Thursday morning from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. with graveside services Thursday morning, Aug. 25, 1994, 11:00 a.m. at the Macser Fairvicw Cemetery, with full military honors by the American Legion. Father Michael Winterer of St. James and Father Victor Bonnell of St. Rose of Lima in Layton both officiated. of-ficiated. Amy Lube Allen was the organist and Carole Jackson and Janean Lekas were the vocalists. The music was "On Eagles Wings," "A Banquet is Prepared," "Hail Mary, Gentle Woman" and "I Believe in the Son." The pallbearers were: Steven Stoddard, Hall Stoddard, Dan Zumbo, Carl Shelley, Andrew Dudley and Jack Deneen.
