Show Open horse show marks end of show season With the conclusion of the Dinah Spurs Annual Open Horse Show on Saturday, June 17, winners for the 1989 Uintah Basin Horse Show Circuit were announced. The circuit is a cooperative effort on the part of Uintah Basin area horse organizations organiza-tions in an attempt to promote better horsemanship and to recognize fine horses regardless of breeds. Participants are not required to be a member of any organization and the shows are open to all breeds. The tally for the 1989 season included: in-cluded: High Point Pare, One Sock Shasta, owned and shown by Melanie Sanna; High Point gelding, Jackets Dandy, owned and shown by Shawna Witbeck; High Point Stallion, Continental Silk, owned and shown by Lance Slaugh; 1989 Weanling tie She's a Peach, owned by Neil and Lisa Fillingim; A Trace of Lace, owned by Gary Witbeck. Halter class winners include: in-clude: Grand Champion Stallion, Continental Silk, owned by Lance Slaugh; Reserve Grand Champion Stallion, Allah Kazim, shown by Gail Benson. Yearling Halter Futurity winners: First place, Irish shown by Dorccn Hunting; second, Justa Monkey Wrench shown by Heidi Murray; third, Gypsy shown by Doyle Harrison. Stallion sire winner, Justa Gypsy Doc owned by Ray Morris. Officials announced last week that the deadline for annual annu-al participants to register had passed and a limited number of slots were being opened to interested golfers. The annual event is one of the three top tournaments in Utah and is a popular stop for such golfing greats as Mike Malaska, Jimmy Blair and Ron Abegglen. The cost of the tournament tour-nament is $40 for the ProAm on Friday and $90 for the two day individual indi-vidual flighted tournament on Sat. and Sun. Golfers must have an established es-tablished handicap. Miss Coors Rodeo to appear in Vernal Sherry Daniel, a young woman hailing from Irving, Texas will be on hand during the Dinosaur Roundup Rodeo to represent a major ma-jor corporate sponsor of rodeo, the Adolph Coors Company of Golden, Colo. Daniel was recently selected to reign as Miss Coors Rodeo and will represent Coors in PRCA events throughout the U.S. When she was young, Daniel rode many horses but left the competing to her sisters, Cindy, a barrel racer and Susan, a bull rider. Her abilities with horses were never in question however, and she claimed the title, Miss Coors Rodeo, rightfully. Daniel travels almost 90,000 miles each year to attend the 45 Chute Out Pallesen, daughter of Raymond and Roxie Pallesen, poles, goat tying, barrels, team roping; Chris Ylinchcta, son of Art and Jill Ylincheta, cutting; Coby Sutton, son of Ned and Lynda Oaks and Jim Sutton, team roping; Rocky Searle, son of Flynn and Marsha Searle, bull riding; Kevin Holmes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Holmes, team roping. FINALS attend the Nevada Invitational Rodeo in Fallon, Nev. Those individuals indi-viduals included: Randy Wilkins, Nikki Wilkins, Cricket Allen, David Williams, Tracey Richens. Tracey Richens took first place in the second go of bull riding with a score of 76. In addition, he took first place in the average with a total of 203 points scored on three bulls. His exceptional riding qualified him to be an alternate for the National High School Rodeo Finals at the end of July in Pueblo.
