But she plans on competing in one more bike race before the summer's end. Still, it's not all intensity, all the time. Before school starts she will return to Honduras, where she studied abroad and knows a host family very well. She also plans to go diving in Belize with her grandpa and her dad. First, though, she's got a triathlon to finish. Does she have any expectations? "I wanna finish well for my standards," she says. If precedent holds, those standards will be pretty high. Parker, who speaks softly, has been compared to Jon Grudcn - an NFL coach known for his passion, dedication, and personality - but says lhat he's changed over the years. "I'm more laid-back as I get older." he says. "Which 1 think is a plus." His coaching goals involve everybody. Too many kids have been benched when they're young, he says. By the lime they get lo high school, only some of them can play. and many have quit. "In a perfect situation. 1 like to platoon. Eleven on offense, 11 on defense, gel everyone involved. I like a lot of kids playing, and I want the kids lo have fun." But at the same lime, his job is to win. As a new coach with hopes for the playoffs, lhal 'perfect situation' is easier to envision than implement. "'{"here's definitely pressure here," says Parker. "That new field . .. they expect results."
