Show The Park Record Sat/Sun/Mon/Tues. March>-8, 2005 C-23 A U T O G R t P H Hiding an emergency key We've all locked our keys in our cars at one time or another. Set aside a few minutes to hide a spare key somewhere on the outside of the car and fasten it there. Here's a tip if you can't find a place. Remove one of the license-plate bolts and reinstall a slotted screw with the key between the back of the license plate and the bumper. Turn in the screw using a coin. This will ensure you can take out the screw with a coin. Be sure to lubricate the threads of the screw so they don't rust to the car. The coin The screw Oil the screw to prevent seizing and keep it short. The longer it is, the more turning you have to do with the coin to remove it to get at the key. It might not sound like a big deal, but in the middle of night in the rain or snow, an extra 30 seconds makes a big difference. If your license plate is held on with bolts instead of screws, you'll need to purchase at least one screw. Use a coin to check to make sure the slot is wide enough. yo.ti want lo kiK>w how to change an engine and a set of wheels, isk/ a mcch;uiic. r If you want lo know Ixw lo cinm a lifetime of experience dirf<yiing and hammering out :onie of the most incivdible cusIdin LIB n llx: worid between four tires and two bumpers of a clappedoui 'lusyiuig. askTmy'l'ivpania: I'S.I question that came from Internet auction giant Hhay Motors wt*n i | w ailed lo show what coukl be built wilh the parts ;tnd pieces - ;UK aiy entire cai'. actually - Ixuiglit through its popular online service.
