All proceeds from the event will be donated to Oxfam International to aid in tsunami relief efforts. The Resort estimated that ft raised more than $14,500 for the tsunami releaf efforts. "We were pleased with the turnout and also pleased with everyone's generosity," said Katie Eldridge, a spokesperson for The Canyons. The event also included a short, $100-a-ticket VIP acoustic concert by the band. Collective Soul's cooperation and was a key part of the event's success, noted Eldridge. Sideways HILARIOUS! It is more consistent in tone and uses less token 70's "British Invasion" rock. Instead it is riddled' with pretty acoustic covers of David Bowie songs. The odd thing is that all the covers are in Portuguese. But this is part of what makes them so interesting. Seu Jorge did a wonderful job of interpreting the songs for the album. Also, instrumental pieces by long time collaborator Mark Molhersbaugh and Australian composer Sven Libaek give the album a dramatic and wonderful feel throughout, completing its atmosphere. Songs by Devo, Scott Walker, Joan Baez and Iggy and the Stooges offer a break from said atmosphere, but without disrupting it at all. As a whole the album is wonderful. It makes for great background music, especially if you happen to be on a boat somewhere. -Keltin Barney, Orion s Staff • NO PASSES-NO SUPERSAVERS Ti&is & Showtimes ovailobls or cinemarluom 6 .
