Students throughout the Rocky Mountain Southwest Chapter are encouraged to submit entries by the Feb. 11 deadline. The award recognizes student journalism work and is given in seven categories: news, arts and entertainment/cultural affairs, documentary, sports, public affairs, technical achievement and writing. Harney is establishing a holistic healing center in California called Poo-Ha-Bah, with which he uses natural spring water for healing rites such as treating arthritis. Poo-Ha-Bah means "medicine waters" in Shoshone. Smith's computer classes are designing Harney's website for him. "We, the native people, were given a power by nature to heal each other," Harney told the students. Celebrate Arbor Day Local elementary students are invited to participate in Utah's annual Arbor Day poster contest. Schools in four regions with first-place winners will each receive $1,000. Student winners receive U.S. Savings bonds, framed certificates, and other prizes.
