The team will open the season at home against Juan Diego Catholic High School. Tryouts were held this past week in conjunction with twice-daily workouts. On Friday the final team selections will be made. The will team practice every afternoon from 2-5:30 p.m. and the sessions are open to spectators. All games are on Tuesday and Thursdays with the sophomore squad starting at 4 p.m... followed by junior varsity at 5:15 p.m., and concludes with varsity at 6:30 p.m. Tickets arc $4 for the general public and free to all students with identification. The freshman team plays in a Sail Lake League at the Inlermountain Volleyball Association on Wednesdays with other high schools that also have a freshman grade level teams. Carlston feels that her team has definite chance to dominate in region play. "[Last year] We had the best offensive team in t h e region, because we were running plays that no one else in the region played, however we didn't have the defense, a n d defense is t h e foundation...If our girls arc hungry, competitive and serious, we will take region." said Carlston. Carlston is also hopeful that the community will commit its support lo the team. Part of this effort includes a "Happenings" entertainment coupon book fundraiser at Wal-Mart next Tuesday, t-shirts and sweatshirt sales at all home games, and a community volleyball match against the Park City Fire Department on Aug. 31.
