Time: 9-11 a.m. and 2-4 p.m. During the week of Sept. 24-28 several vision screening clinics will be held to identify amblyopia in all children three and a half through five and a half years of age. These clinics are free to the public and are conducted by the Nursing Division of. the Davis County Health Department. Early detection of amblyopia is crucial. At least one in every 35 preschool children in Utah will have an eye defect serious enough to require professional eye care. Amblyopia, commonly known as "Lazy eye' blindness, is the most frequent vision problem for children of this age. If amblyopia is identified early on before a child starts school, prompt treatment can be effective in correcting the problem. On the other hand, amblyopia is not outgrown and if left untreated for the first 6-7 years of life, serious and often times permanent vision loss may occur. If a child is suspected to have a vision problem, parents will be notified immediately. Parents should plan to have all preschool children participate in one of the clinics listed below and remind friends and neighbors of this very important sight-saving program. The following are dates, times and locations of the clinics offered during dur-ing the week. Monday, Sept 24 Kaysville Elementary, 50 N. 100 E., Kaysville.
