Show Wildcats take lead in region six B OUNTIFULThe Woods Cross Wildcats have taken the lead in Region Six golf competition, thanks to a 13-stroke victory over Bountiful Thursday afternoon at Bountiful City. Woods Cross beat the Braves 153-166 in a battle of previous unbeatens. The Wildcats are now 4-0 in league, with Bountiful and Judge both 3-1. Leading the way for Woods Cross was sophomore Shawn Jepsen with a 34, as Jepsen continues to show he's one of the best prep golfers in Utah. Scott Strong shot a 36 and Shane Rawlins a 40 for the Wildcats. Bountiful Boun-tiful 's top finisher was Chris Carver with a 40. On Tuesday, the Wildcats handled Granite 167-189 in a light rain. Shaw and Jepsen tied for medalist honors in that match. Bountiful also won Tuesday over Judge, but no individual or team scores were available by advanced press deadline Thursday night. This week. Bountiful will travel to Granite on Tuesday and host Tooele on Thursday, while Woods Cross plays two home matches with West and Murray. The Region Six tournament is set for October 4 at Valley View in Layton. |
