Show Vildng Views By RUTHANNE HANSEN Viewmont High is a school of true and noble excellence. It is unsurpassed un-surpassed by all. The huge success of Homecoming exemplifies the turthfulness of this statement. The numerous activities during the week promoted spirit, unity, pride, and respect for our school and those in it. The class officers, clubs, organizations, organi-zations, and the administration and faculty worked hard to pull it off and they succeeded. But they . couldn't have done it without the support, participation, enthusiasm, enthu-siasm, and excitement of the students stu-dents and the community. When all of this greatness is combined, the result is a football victory over East, and a "V" on the mountain . that illuminates our unlimited capability and our Viking class. Viewmont is proud of its school and its accomplishments, and it will continue to move forward for another 25 years. The immense prosperity continues con-tinues with the major and minor sports. The girls' tennis team did very well. They only had one returning re-turning player (Liz McClure), but they feel that they progressed during dur-ing the season, and they are proud of their accomplishments. Julia Bradley, their coach, stressed important im-portant drills and technique rather than total competition, and the team will be very strong next year. The golf team also had a shortage of returning players they only, had four. But those four, along with the rest of the team, had a successful season. A special con gratulations goes out to Mark Walker, Wal-ker, Kyle Owen, Wade Tingy, Collin Col-lin Christensen.and Matt Clark. Girls' volleyball is going strong! They beat Davis, which was their first home game, and they plan to do the same at Davis on Oct. 18 at 4. They encourage all of the students stu-dents to show their support. This would be a great place for the "Pitt." They are needed wherever, not just at the major athletic events. Last yearourcross country team took the state title, and it is looking like a repeat for this year! Both our girls' and boys' teams are doing exceptionally well. The team members mem-bers started to train back in August, Au-gust, and the sweat and hard work has paid off. The team is not only talented, but it isalsolarge:'boys 18 seniors, 18 juniors, II sophomores; sopho-mores; one freshman and one in eighth grade; girls eight seniors, five juniors, four sophomores and three freshmen. This determined and successful group .of athletes will run in their region meet on Oct. 19 at Layton. Come and cheer them across the finish line. The football team is also contributing contri-buting to Viking pride. Their win over East was superb and very inspiring. in-spiring. Good luck to you these next couple of weeks! Those who attend, or are associated associ-ated with Viewmont, are proud of it and hold it with high regard. We are constantly advancing forward, and we are trying our best to sue-, ceed. Thank you to all those persons per-sons (there are too many to even begin mentioning) who make us what we are! |
