Show 'Festival of Trees' begins activities The 18th annual "Festival of Trees" to benefit needy patients at Primary Children's Medical Center Cen-ter will open Nov. 30 and continue through Dec. 3 at Salt Palace II. "Community participation has been the key to making the Festival of Trees a seasonal high point for Utahns," said Elda Rae Gunn, chairwoman of the Women's Endowment En-dowment Board. "A successful Festival requires the efforts and contributions of thousands. We're proud that the Festival has become a major regional event, with an attendance of 80,000 last year." Members of the community, businesses and civic organizations are encouraged to participate as individuals in-dividuals or groups. Donations may be made to any of the following follow-ing areas: Trees decorated trees of various va-rious styles, sizes and themes. Chairwoman: Earlene Rex, 272-3848. 272-3848. Chairwoman: Barbara Christiansen, 968-3124. Funds raised at the Festival of Trees pay for treatment for needy patients at Primary Children's Medical Center. The Festival is organized and presented each year by the Women's Endowment Board, a 70-member volunteer board, and 700 volunteer committee commit-tee members. The board anticipates antici-pates that this year's festival will feature more than 300 trees and thousands of handmade crafts, wreaths, centerpieces and food gifts. Last year, Primary Children's Chil-dren's provided $2.8 million in donated .charity care to children. Physicians donated treatment in addition to this amount. |
