Show Tenure guidelines change Some new guidelines for tenure at the University are being distributed to faculty members for their consideration before it is placed before University Senate this fall. In effect, the new guidelines would make only full professors and associate professors eligible for tenure. Assistant professors would no longer be eligible. However, tenure-producing positions would increase. Years working as a lecturer, as well as present tenure-producing positions, would count towards the necessary minimum number of years needed for tenure and the advancement to professor or associate professor after the minimum number of years would automatically include tenure. The guidelines are being circulated through members of the senate from the senate's executive committee. The senate will consider the guidelines after it reconvenes in September. |
