Wayne Petty "In addition to continuing the coordination of the varied responsibilities responsi-bilities of Programs Board, which covers the broad range such as awards, elections, students from abroad, Challenge and U Days, there is a need for improvement in the following ways : "First, there should be advanced pumsimiw ' ; , -. i j . : ;;: I " .. . ft f ,;! .' 4 i ... if . jf -wt I ' I- - ' " ....... J control over all ASUU student committees. com-mittees. These committees in turn run the activities of the school. I would like to see these committees commit-tees run by more people whom they affect. By being a lower classman and an independent, I have observed ob-served the need for students to get involved with their administration, their ASUU officers; in general their school." "My platform is built on the idea of "Bridging the Gap" between faculty, ASUU boards, and the stu-dentbody. stu-dentbody. One way we could get students involved would be to set up a housing committee; one that would reflect the ideas of dorm students." f Stayner Landward "My platform is to create and perpetuate more student participation participa-tion 1) through better coordination , of pep groups, 2) more involvement in student participation, 3) continued contin-ued working relationship with the athletic administration which will result in better and more enthusiastic enthusi-astic school spirit. I feel better school spirit will help solve some of the problems student government is facing on this campus." "One of the prime areas of concern con-cern of the Programs Board is the pep groups, cheerleaders, songlead-ers, songlead-ers, Ute-hanas and band. These are coordinated by the student participation, partici-pation, committee which works through the Programs Board. Through past experience as head cheerleader of the University and an active voting member of Student Stu-dent Participation Committee I have developed good working relationships relation-ships with them. I am aware of the responsibilities of these groups and of the time and effort required to create good school spirit." Kent Bullock . "In Tuesday's Chronicle I was : listed as running for Finance Board. ; But due to the persuasion of many individuals I am seeking a position on the Programs Board, which has SCOTT jVULLER planning in all ; areas under the Board's jurisdiction. The current Board has taken; an effective step in appointing next year's Homecoming Home-coming chairman early, and taking applications for next year's Challenge Chal-lenge chairman: This procedure should be expanded to the other activities and groups. "Second, more effective programming, program-ming, especially in the areas of students participation, half-time at athletic events, Leadership Training Train-ing Committee and others. "Third, student representation and participation in eligibility, judging, and awards in an effort to increase the application of qualified qual-ified students. "Fourth, increasing student interest in-terest which can be achieved through informing in a more effective eff-ective way, the policies and program pro-gram of the student government. "Working with the Freshman Cabinet, Homecoming, Challenge and Artists and Speakers has given me experience and insight into the problems and responsibilities of Programs Board. Experience in these areas would be helpful in dealing with those under the jurisdiction juris-diction of Programs Board." Frank Overfelt "The chronic problem which exists ex-ists in our American Society, indifference in-difference due to size, is also apparent ap-parent on our campus. In considering consid-ering this situation, I firmly believe be-lieve that the primary responsibility responsibili-ty of alleviating this problem rests with the campus leaders."
