Show chronicle MAILBOX April Nuts Editor: I'm new here, so someone tell me quickly who or what is the "April Committee"? If Mr. Waters is really their spokesman, then I assume they are a totalitarian group who are determined to protect pro-tect the rest of us from corruption by contact with the Nazi Party, the Du Bois Clubs, the Black Dragon Society, the Mormon Church or the CIA. Why don't you elitist nuts all go somewhere by yourselves and let the normal people make up o u r own free minds? James L. Stevens, Jr. Scylla's Heads Editor: It seems to be pretty well established estab-lished that academic success is based on how adroitly a student can switch personalities to fit a class. I was challenged last quarter to define schizophrenia. I know now why it was so difficult. The somewhat some-what unique and consciously affected af-fected behavior expected of students stu-dents is certainly schizoid in nature. na-ture. We are very definitely learning learn-ing "TO BE." We have become cognatively aware of and have consciously consented to be as many personalities as we have classes. We have decided to accept this reality and to respond in kind, to be effective .... (to get grades). We go one step further. We take tests written in tricky, bizarre, specific spe-cific vernacular, which test our ability at this macabre game. Do we demonstrate knowledge gained? We all agree it's a problem, as we giggle and continue . . . where is the logic or the morality in this kind of behavior? Or are these values we have? I've heard a good deal of reflection reflec-tion about the nature of religion being . a mass psychosis. Can we look at the educational system and make the same reflection? Maybe not, I guess if you're involved and committed, it gets a little hard. It's inconsistent to give all your effort and time to something, to depend on something, to worship blindly and devoutly and knock it, too., My complaint is this: I'm used to a monothestic system. This god has too many heads. Suzanna Olsen A Thank You Editor: I want to express my appreciation apprecia-tion to the Chrony Press for making mak-ing the Chrony so much fun to read. I really enjoy piecing together togeth-er all the various misplaced lines in an article and I get a real sense of achievement when I finally have them arranged so that the article makes sense! The thing I like about it is they don't restrict this game to just one article every once m a while it is inserted in at least two or three columns every day. I would just like to say thanks ana keep up the good work! Cheryl Gabbott P.S. What's really fun is fin ing a missing line from one artici in a different article on another page. |
