Show New Music To Premiere During 'RockefellerWeek' formance should send them to the Rockefeller Week Committee, music mu-sic department at the University of Utah. U.T.L ,r w. iA .1 .J The Utah Symphony, with a grant from the Rockefeller Foundation, will add one week to its season by visiting the University of Utah campus April 13-19. A free gala Public Concert in Kingsbury Hall, April 19 at 8:30 p.m. will formally premiere works by American composers which have never been publicly performed. per-formed. All rehearsals for these works will be open to students and faculty. Preview concerts will also be presented at Brigham Young University, Utah State University and Weber State College. A selection committee consisting of representatives from the music department, will choose the selections selec-tions from among symphonic scores submitted by various composers. Maurice Abravanel, musical director direc-tor and conductor of the Utah Symphony Sym-phony and advisor to the selection committee, will conduct the works chosen for the "Rockefeller Week" performances. Composers wishing to submit symphonic scores for possible per- "Masque of Death," a Russian watercolor by M. Fokine depicts ballet choregraphy. This design and others created for ballet, opera, and theatre are on display in the University Museum of Fine Arts. |
