Show Dorm Doors Break Open general requirements. The grade point has been lowered to 2.00 for juniors and seniors. Sophomores must meet a 2.25. The GPA is dropped for girls over 21 years. They must attend a key program stressing responsible and mature use of keys. A ten dollar deposit and signing out will be required. Can Take Care of Themselves Jim Schutz, an out of town student stu-dent remarked, "The girls are old enough to take care of themselves and should have been given such privileges long ago." The freshman will be allowed to use the key three times a quarter. Commented a freshman, "We're not really restricted. We probably wouldn't use it more than three times anyway." One boy contended, "Freshman are just as responsible. Why discriminate if they make the grades?" The new key program was instituted in-stituted in 1967 by the AWS Standards Board with the support of the university administration. The move for liberization came from the residence hall people. No longer is the University going to hold your hand or lock you up in the residence halls and sorority houses. With the modification of AWS hours, women residents are not bound to the former 1 1 p.m. weekdays and 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday deadlines. Key privileges will admit students in the outside doors after closing hours. The liberalization of hours stems from the girls' growing demand to have equal privileges for all. Step In Right Direction A Ballif senior commented, "You go away to school to grow up, and end up limiting your activities with a curfew. The key program is a step in the right direction."
