The sport is said to have V originated in ancient India, but was discarded when the Royal-Archaic Royal-Archaic Gymnasium in the Religious Capital was burned to the ground along with two thousand flaming Indians. The sport was revived in the United States in 1897 and rapidly rapid-ly declined to present popular- .V ity. FOR THOSE who have not seen the sport or participated in sandlot competition, the sport consists of two competing teams of 13,000 men, with each team standing in double rows and facing fac-ing each other. Each man holds a flaming tube, and when the gun sounds, the teams roll their tubes toward each other. The |
