HOLLINGSHEADS TOCEEBRATE 50TH ANNIVERSARY By Emily Gillins , Mr. and Mrs. Andy Hollings-head Hollings-head will observe their Golden Wedding anniversary on Mon- . day when open house will be held in their honor at their ( home from 2 to 6 p. m. The couple were married Nov. 12th, 1902, at the St. George Temple by David Q. Cannon. They recalled with smiles the t-ip to St. George, which took them three days. Traveling by covered wagon, they were ac- j companied by two other couples. When they reached the Black Ridge out of Beaver a terrible rainstorm came, and then the wagon tongue broke. They spenf the first, night at Buckhorn with relative's, then traveled on to Beiview, reaching' St.. George the next day. Mrs. Hollingshead is 67, and was born Lois Roberts at Min-ersville. Min-ersville. She has worked in the Primary organization and has been a visiting tHacher in the Relief Society for 30 years. Noted for making beautiful quilts ,she still is busy making them for her grandchildren. One quilt she made is called the Trip Around the World, and has C,000 individual squares of cloth. Mr. Hollingshead is 70, and in early life farmed and worked as a blacksmith at the Horn Silver and other mines. Now retired, he is still an excellent carpenter and early this year had almost completed the remodeling of their home. Mr. Hollingshead was construction foreman when the present post office and library li-brary bui'ding was constructed. They are the parents of six children, four of whom are still living: Nolan Hollingshead of Salt Lake City, Arshal Hollingshead Hollings-head of Beaver, Keith Hollingshead Hollings-head of Minersville, and Mrs. Joy Kirk of Reseda, Calif. They also have 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. v The pub'ic, friends and relatives rela-tives from Mutual age up are in- j vited to attend a dance at the Recreation Hall, Monday eve- i ning, in honor of the couple. i |
