Show GOP Sweeps Nation In Vote Landslide The Beaver County voters fol-' lowed the national pattern and with only three exceptions cast the majority of their ballots for Republican candidates. Nationally, Nation-ally, it was a landslide for Ike Eisenhower and the Republican party, with the Washington administration ad-ministration next year being Republican Re-publican for the first time since Herbert Hoover left the White House in 1932. In the county, Walt Granger polled a 60-vote majority over Arthur V. Watkins. However, Senator Watkins won the election elec-tion over the state and was returned re-turned to his U S Senate seat. Locally, Arlo Messinger of Beaver defeated Joseph R. Mur-dock Mur-dock of Milford, 1262 to 1038, for the Utah House of Representatives; Represent-atives; J. Frank Smith defeated Aird Merkley for the four-year Beaver County Commission post, 1226 to 1070, and William Wood defeated Sim Murdock, for the two-year commission post, 1284 to 1016. The vote was the heaviest in history, with all precincts polling poll-ing more than 90 of the qua'i-fied qua'i-fied electors, and Minersville turning in a 100 vote.
