YEARBOOK KING AND QUEEN CANDIDATES I SELECTED FOR '53 I Monday, Oct. 27, a special class meeting was held in each of the high school classes to elect a yearbook king and queen for the Yearbook Carnival Dance. I Those nominated were: Donald Rowley and Lois Jean Fowles, 1 seniors; Dyke LeFevre and Earl-ene Earl-ene Kromann, juniors; Vaughn McDonald and Pat Wilcock, i sciphomores; Vee Wadsworth and Shirley Tomsik, freshmen. The Junior High students elected princes and princesses. The Eighth grade elected Dick Bolton and Carlene Gronning; the Seventh grade selected Ar-den Ar-den Fowles and Sheila Dalton. GRADE SCHOOL PRESENTS ASSEMBLY TO HIGH SCHOOL The Grade School put on an excellent program concerning the United Nations for the High School. The program was as J follows: Mr. McDermott led the Milford High School student body in "America," followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. A flag display dis-play of each nation was put on by the Kindergarten; then Miss Parkinson gave a talk about what the United Nations means. This was followed by three talks given by David Bolton, Robert Davis and Joyce Foster. Mrs. Larson's Fifth grade sang "Star Spangled Banner," then Mr. Fisher gave a fine talk on the purpose of the United Nations. Mr. Gunther's Fourth grade gave a fine drill. The assembly closed by singing "God Bless America." ENGLISH CLASS HOLDS DEBATE The Twelfth grade English Class, under the direction of Mr. Bartholomew, is conducting j a debate on the subject, "Re-solved "Re-solved that the Atlantic Pact Nations Na-tions Should Form a Federal 1 Union." This debate is de-1 signed to make the students better bet-ter acquainted with world af-1 fairs as well as to give them practice in debating. JUNIOR CLASS GETS SWEATERS Wednesday, Oct. 22, the Juniors Jun-iors of M H S received their class sweaters. They are a beautiful cardinal red with gray lettering on a white background. The Juniors are very pleased i and happy with them. YEARBOOK PICTURES Pictures for the M H S Yearbook Year-book were taken Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. I NEW GRADING SYSTEM ADOPTED AT MILFORD HIGH A new system has been adopted adopt-ed at Milford High, which will grade the student more closely in his progress. Students will be graded on this plan, which will heip to improve im-prove accuracy in grading and aid the parents in understanding what their children are accorrf-plishing accorrf-plishing in school. HOSPITAL NOTES Recent medical patients at the Milford Hospital include Gertrude Ger-trude McKenzie, Floyd Bedding-field, Bedding-field, Rose Bradshaw of Provo, Rosa Lee Potter of Minersville, Alice Peckham, Rae Jean Thompson, Thomp-son, George Jefferson, Iris Will-yard, Will-yard, Catherine Bradfield, Gerald Ger-ald Thomas and Ben Robinson. Mr. Jefferson was flown to Salt Lake City for surgery. Cleo Labrum underwent major ma-jor surgery at the Milford Hospital Hos-pital on Oct. 28th. I ' The infant son of Mr. and Mrs. j Delmar Parkinson of Beaver un-I un-I derwent surgery on Oct. 22. , Raynolds Simas of Los Angeles An-geles was removed from a U P ! tron on, Nov. 5 for treatment at the hospital. A BABY BOY was born to Mr. and Mrs. Don Larson on Nov. 1st. A DAUGHTER was born to ,Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hansen on Nov. 3rd . Mr. and Mrs. Kent Hanney welcomed A BABY GIRL on Nov. 4th. A BABY SHOWER at the home of Mrs. Clair Gillins in ' South Milford Monday evening honored Mrs. Shirleen Barnes, j Hostesses for the evening were Mrs. Jeanette Stoker and Mrs. Barbara Jones. Prizes at bunco were won by Mrs. Helen Gillins, Mrs. La-Dawn La-Dawn Frazier, Mrs. Lena Morris and Mrs. Shirleen Barnes. Other players were Mrs. Mary Albrecht, Mrs. Ramona Smith, Mrs. Billie Stoker, Mrs. Florence Barnes, Miss JoAnn Barnes, Mrs. Nona Gillins, Mrs. Carol Wright, Mrs. Thelma Gillins, Mrs. Kath-erine Kath-erine Atkin, Mrs. Janet Root, Mrs. Nora Wright and Mrs. Marilyn Mari-lyn Fotheringham. |
