Show SCHOOL SAVINGS PROGRAM OFFERS . OPPORTUNITY FOR THRIFT TRAINING By Joan Barnes The School Savings Program of the "United States presents some of the most far-reaching opportunities available anywhere today. These are as follows: 1 Opportunities for everyone to participate in the fight for freedom through individual purchase of stamps and bonds so funds will be available for construction of defense weapons. 2. A belter way of building habits of thrift for both the present and the future. . . 3. An improved system of learning of the administrative departments of our government. will help them in their future lives. This program can be operated at all grade levels: Kindergarten, elementary, and high schools, and these positive advantages may justify all the time the administrators, teachers, teach-ers, and parents may devote to such causes as this. This program depends greatly upon the enthusiasm and vision of the parents as well as of the teachers and students. It is not a contest between classes and other schools, but is an opportunity oppor-tunity for our own benefit. The School Savings Program is put in each school so that the students stu-dents will be able to purchase stamps and bonds conveniently. Not only students of schools should be included in this program, pro-gram, but the parents as well. The parents and the school authorities au-thorities could thereby form an additional bond between themselves them-selves and then the parent; would be taking a more active part in the schools. 'If the parents par-ents of all stduents would give them 10c or 25c each week, the United States Treasury Department Depart-ment would Euppreciate it.
