Show Seconb HHlarb By MRS. BETH FISHER Two visiting sisters were especially es-pecially welcomed to sacrament meeting last Sunday evening by Bishop Gronning. They were Mary D. Fisher, mother of Parley Par-ley Fisher, and Mrs. Dalley, who is visiting her daughters, Mrs. Bill Thompson, Mrs. James Thompson and Mrs. John Nay. Mrs. Fisher is 87 years old and Mrs. Dalley is 92. The new high school English teacher, Mr. Calvin Bartholomew, Bartholo-mew, was introduced to members mem-bers of the Second Ward last Sunday evening when he spoke in sacrament meeting. In his remarks he spoke at length about the Book of Mormon and pointed out that neither the Book of Mormon nor the Bible contradicts each other, but they go hand in hand in teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The seminary girls sextet sang two numbers in church last Sunday night. They were "I Know That My Redeemer Lives" and "Now the Day Is Over." Girls . making up the sextet were Afton Hollis, Hazel Ann Kesler, Jeanette G. Stoker, Lois Jean Fowles, Bonnie Lund and Jonette Baxter. They were accompanied by Marlys Gillins. Among those who visited the Second Ward MIA last Tuesday Tues-day evening was Mrs. Merle Merkley, who is the Stake attendance at-tendance secretary for the 'teen age girls' program. Fireside on Sept. 16 was held at the home" of Gerald and Jeanette Stoker. 1 The Boy Scouts are sponsoring sponsor-ing a Father and Son banquet on Sept. 27th. Sixteen of the 20 enrolled officers and teachers of the Second Ward Primary attended the two-stake regional Primary convention held in Beaver on Sept. 14. The theme, "Building Latter-day Saints," was very ably presented by two visiting General Board members from Salt Lake City. They were Mary Parish and Ruth Chadwick. Chad-wick. Other -speakers in the afternoon meeting were President Presi-dent Dalton of theParowan Stake and Presidents Woolsey and Murdock of the Beaver Stake. After the main meeting departmental meetings were held and these were followed by a reception where all had the privilege of meeting the Salt Lake visitors . - Primary. Preparation meeting was held on Sept. 17th at the home of Florence Beard, with 12 Primary -workers . present. They were Lucille . - Belliston. Ruth Lish, Cuma Goodwin, Ber-niece Ber-niece Smith, Merlin Merry weather, Faye Thompson, Irenr Posey, Ella Jean Parkinson, |
