THE ELLA STANCLIFFE Past Noble Grand Club met at , the I O O F hall Wednesday evening, Sept. 12th, with Frances Fran-ces Jefferson and Bertha Cott-rell Cott-rell acting as hostesses. A very interesting talk was given by Bertha Cottrell on her visit to the Old Folks Home for Odd Fellows and Rebekahs at Canyon City, Colo. Gladys Shingleton told about visiting a Rebekah lodge at San Jose, Calif. A delicious lunch was served by the hostesses after the business busi-ness meeting, and a lovely birthday birth-day cake and card were presented present-ed to Mrs. Vena Wilson, whose birth anniversary was on Sept. 7th. Those present to enjoy the evening were Lillian Atkin, Sclma Carlson, Bertha Cottrell, Cree Elmer, Susan Glenn, Sarah Griffiths, Frances Jefferson, Dora Johnson, Jennie Martin, Hilda O'Leary, Dora Pool, Elva Sedgwick, Gladys Shingleton, Virginia U'Ren, Carlie Wad-doups, Wad-doups, Vena Wilson and Margaret Mar-garet Lyman. ST. BRIDGET'S Rosarians held their regular monthly business busi-ness meeting and also a stork shower for Mrs. Jane Gillis at the home of Mrs. Edith Wisner. All members were present, including in-cluding a new member, Mrs. Margie McDermott. After business discussion, pinochle pi-nochle was played. Prizes were won by Mrs. Jane Gillis, Mrs. Margie McDermott and Mrs. Jean Handley. The door prize went to Mrs. Dorothy Morris. Many lovely gifts were presented pre-sented to Mrs. Gillis for her new-born son. Lunch was served by Mrs. Wisner. ' MRS. J. S. RICKERSON entertained en-tertained her bridge club Thursday, Thurs-day, Sept. 13th. Fall flowers decorated the tables and room. A salad course and hot rolls was served to six members and two guests. At the close of the card gama prizes were given to Stella Persons, Per-sons, LaReta Worthen, Nina Bingham, Lena Morris and Kate Shingleton. AFTER THE REGULAR Ruth chapter meeting on Tuesday evening, the members were invited in-vited to the pleasantly appointed appoint-ed home of Margaret Murdock for a bundle shower honoring the worthy matron. Twenty-five Star sisters and brothers enjoyed en-joyed a very delectable lunch served with hot tea and coffee. Mrs. Norma Walters was then escorted to a large dining table presided over by the traditional stork, and piled high with most inviting - looking bundles. A happy hour was spent opening the packages and enjoying the many useful and beautiful gifts presented by the chapter. Lesa Acklin and Marie Charchalis were most accomplished assistants assist-ants in this laborious process, which was accompanied by much speculation and laughter. Altogether it was a delightful evening, made so by the gracious gra-cious hospitality of Mrs. Mur-1 dock, the artistic touches of Mrs. Charchalis, and the pep and originality of Mrs. Acklin, the committee in charge of the affair. THE MILFORD FIRST Ward Gleaner Girls enjoyed a get-together get-together and candy pull at the home of Mrs. David Glenn on Sunday afternoon, with the following fol-lowing girls joining the fun: Joan Barnes, Janiel Baxter, Bonnie Lund, Lois Jean Fowles, Connie Thompson, Bonnie Munk, Marlys Gillins, Angie Waddoups, Shirleen Lyman, Jenieve and Katherine Sherriff, Hazel Ann Kesler, and Mrs. Thurland Sly and Mrs.,' David Glenn, leaders of the group. PINOCHLE was played at the home of Mrs. Ann Bird last Thursday evening, with the following fol-lowing ladies present: Mrs. Lela Rowley, Mrs. Marjorie Horton, Mrs. Alice Baxter, Mrs. Dorothy Gale, Mrs. Vera Bietz, Mrs. Billie Stoker, Mrs. Alma Radtke , and Mrs. Lesa Acklin. i Prizes were won by Mrs. Rowley, Mrs. Acklin and Mrsi Stoker. After the game of cards a dessert salad was served by Mrs. Bird. MRS. MELISSA VALLEY of Joseph, Utah, a very remark-able remark-able woman at the age of 92, was in Milford last week visit-' 'ing her three daughters, Mrs. Josephine Thompson, Mrs. William Wil-liam Thompson and Mrs. Jack Nay. Mrs. Valley enjoys good health, does her own house-woik, house-woik, has never worn glasses, and is proud of her 10 living children. She was born in Springville, a daughter of Syl-vanus Syl-vanus and Katherine Stoker Hult. A BIRTHDAY PARTY was given in honor of Mary Edwards, Ed-wards, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Edwards, on Sept. 12th. Friends helping to celebrate the event were Kaye Labrum, Nora Ann Walker, Lucile Ferguson, Fergu-son, Mauri Rollins, Shernl1 Dawson, Michael Fisher, Lorraine Lor-raine Hardy, Shirleen Shields Wilma Aagard, Karolyn Myers Joyce Gronning, Sharon Nichols, Nich-ols, Carol Vestal, Patricia Bills brother Hal and sister Gayle. Games were played outside, after which ice cream, birthday cake and punch were served. Bubble gum and all-day suckers were given as favors. A VERY EXCITING day for Christine Abbott, daughter of Principal and Mrs. Max Abbott, was Monday, Sept. 17th, it being be-ing her fourth birthday anniversary, anni-versary, and her first birthday party. Friends wishing her a very happy birthday and helping to enjoy the special day were Mickie Ferguson, Freddie and Joy Miller, Colleen Carter, Kathy Miller, Dickie and Lornr Thorrell, Vickie and Gordon Loveland, Jimmie and Karen Baudino, Lola Lamb, Joyce Moore, Vickie and Stephen Moore, Jan Fisher, George King, Susan Elmer and Vernon Davenport. Mrs. Vera Rowley and Mrs, Nellie Griffiths of Caliente were here last week, visitors at the homes of Mrs. Emma Walker, Walk-er, Mr. and Mrs. William Morris, Mor-ris, and Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Roberts. Mr. H. M. Blake is confined to his home with a twisted and dislocated shoulder. Mrs. J. D. Johnson has been released from the Milford Hospital Hos-pital and is convalescing at her home. |
