Show f NEWS NOTES FROM MINERSVILLE By MRS. EMILY GILLINS 1 little Miss has two other sisters and one brother to welcome her home. The Clover Leaf 4-H Club, under direction of Mrs. Thelma Gray, met at her home on Thursday, May 11, to elect officers, of-ficers, which are as follows: President, Leola Mathews; vice - president, Sally Myers; sec.-treas., Sandra Davis; song and cheer leader, Jeanie Griffiths. Grif-fiths. Reporters, LaRee Evans and Mary Owens. I Meetings will be held at Mrs. Gray's each Friday at 1 p. m. Cooking will be the art taken up. Everyone eligible is invited invit-ed to participate. Mr. and Mrs .Clyde Hollings-head Hollings-head and family spent Mother's Day at the home of Mrs. Hol-lingshead's Hol-lingshead's parens, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Lewis, at Beaver. Mrs. Maurice Smith ot Provo and Mr. and Mrs. Gene Pitch-forth Pitch-forth of Salt Lake City were here to attend graduation exercises exer-cises at Beaver High school, in which their sister, Miss Maxine Marshall, was salutatorian. Mrs. Smith is visiting a few days in Minersville, while Mr. and Mrs. Pitchforth returned home Friday. Fri-day. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Dotson were in Parowan on Saturday, to attend the funeral of a relative rela-tive of Mrs. Dotson's. Miss Lu Dean Thompson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Thompson, is spending a few days with her parents. She is employed in the Capitol City. Miss Thompson was a bridesmaid brides-maid at the recent wedding of her cousin, the former Margene Thompson. over Radio Station KSUB at Cedar City Monday evening. They sang a duet, "Sunrise," and David sang a solo, "The Desert Song." Their numbers were well received by KSUB's listeners . Mrs. Carol Carter and sons are spending a few days at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Obra Myers. I The local baseball team is "on the job." practising daily in the new ball park. Mr. and Mrs. Delmer Gray I accompanied Mr. and Mrs. I Heber Murdock of Milford to Cedar City on Sunday, where they visited Mr. and Mrs. Golden Gol-den Eyre, who are residents of Cedar City, and Mr. and Mrs. Max Mecham. Mrs. Eyre and Mrs. Mecham are sisters of Mr. Gray. Mr. Merrill Jameson arrived home Sunday from the hospital. He is recuperating satisfactorily and "feeling fine." Mr. Brose Dalton was a business busi-ness visitor in Minersville on Saturday. Mrs. Augusta Marshall Mr. and Mrs. Alton Marshall, Harold Har-old and Carla Marshall, and Mrs.' Rema Limb visited Mrs. Alton Atkin of Beaver, at the Iron County Hospital last week. Mrs. Atkin, who underwent an operation, will be remembered ' as the former Mae Marshall. Mrs. Veda M. Bryson of Price is here visiting her sister, Mrs. Albateen Roberts and family. Mr. Lynn Crook of Santa-1 Santa-1 quin visited at the home of Mr. 1 and Mrs. Delmer Gray and Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Roberts. IMrs. Alba Gillins visited one day last week at the home of I Mr. and Mrs. Jim Rollins. Mr. and Mrs. Horace Carter entertained one evening last week in honor of Mrs. Carter's birth anniversary. A lovely hot dinner was served to Mr. and Mrs. Carl Banks, Mrs. I. N. Nol-der Nol-der and Mrs. Glen Banks. Many nice remembrances were received re-ceived by Mrs. Carter. Improvements in the community com-munity this week include a clock for public information installed in-stalled over the garage owned by Truman Bradfield. Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Rollins have built an attractive lattice fence on their property. Mr. and Mrs. "Ross Marshall have now planted new lawn, and erected a new fence around their home. Miss Charlene Williams and David Williams, daughter and son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Williams, were featured artists The home of Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Thompson was the scene of a lovely May wedding Monday night, when their -daughter, Margene, exchanged nuptial vows with Paul Thompson, Thomp-son, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Law-rence Thompson of Greenville. The bride was radiant in a white bridal gown entraine with high neckline and lace trimmed color effect. The sleeves were full length and buttoned at the wrist. Her bouquet was of yellow carnations and roses, tied with gold ribbon and net. Bishop Ruben Dotsron officiated officiat-ed at the 'ceremony. Matron of honor was Mrs. Elecnor Beeson of Beaver, who chose a lovely yellow evening gown. Miss LuDean Thompson of Salt Lake City, maid of honror, wore an orchid evening gown. Bridesmaids were twin sisters sis-ters I Margene, Misses Lois and Louisej who were radiant in yellow and green dresses, respectively. re-spectively. Bouquets of the ladies were made up of nosegays nose-gays of miniature lavender flowers and white carnations. Acting as best men were Jack HoUingshead snd "Scribb" Gillies Gil-lies of Beaver, both intimate i friends of the bridegroom. Appearing on the pro- I gram were a ladies' chorus, , Amasa Barton of Greenville, ; Lee Marshall, Mrs. "Ty" Gillins, : Carol Williams, Mrs. Elmer Marshall, the Horton Boys of Greenville, Marva Carter of Beaver, Roy ILindsay of Beaver, Dorothy and Dale Myers, and Mr. Harold Baker. Following the program, deli-cious deli-cious cake and ice cream were served, and the remainder of the 'r .. , evening was spent in dancing. Many lovely gifts were received re-ceived by the happy couple, who left immediately for a honeymoon honey-moon trip to the northern part of the state. Mr. and Mrs. Dan Brinker-hoff Brinker-hoff and small son are visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Golden Marshall. Mrs. Frieda Wood has enjoyed visits from her mother and other relatives, from Peterson, Utah, the past week. Mrs. Armand Morris and children of Greenville spent a day last week visiting her sister, sis-ter, Mrs. Louella Rollins. Bishop and Mrs. Ruben Dot-son Dot-son are the proud parents of a new daughter who arrived May 22 at the Iron County Hospital, and weighed 6 lbs 8 oz. The |
