Show Iflfjapfeton ljewd A group of Mapleton friends enjoyed supper at a Provo restaurant res-taurant followed by visiting Tuesday eveing of last week and the honored one of the group, Doris Rowberry, was presented with a birthday gift. Others in attendance were Jean Hall, Alma Whiting, Kay Prestwich, Orpha Dee Johnson, Zora Hales, Helen Wiscombe. Mrs. Olive Whiting left Sunday Sun-day evening for Idaho where she will spend a few weeks visiting vis-iting with her daughter. The Firemen's Wives Auxiliary Auxili-ary held their monthly meeting meet-ing Monday evening in the club room of the new city building. The meeting was conducted by President Erma Lee Bills. After Af-ter the meeting was called to order and the business conducted, conduc-ted, Ron Canto showed slides he had taken while serving with the Marine Corps in Vietnam. Viet-nam. Hostesses for the evening were Mrs. Lenore Bills and Mrs. Delia Lowe. There were thirteen members present. Seminary graduates for this year from Mapleton Second Ward were the speakers in sacrament meeting this past Sunday. Those p a rticipating were Jim Thompson, Randy Goble, Richard Hjorth, and Kent Snyder. Mr. and Mrs. Boyce Black-ham Black-ham attended the Youth Symphony Sym-phony Orchestra hel dat the Harris Fine Arts Building Monday Mon-day evening. Their son Morris is a member of the group. Grandparents and friends and relatives from Moroni were also in attendance. This was the last performance for this year and was under the dircetion of Profesesor Ralph G. Laycock. Lynn Hall, son of Mr. and Mrs. Max Hall is home on a 30-day leave. He has been serving ser-ving in the Philippines. Pauline Reese Williams is in the Utah Valley Hospital for surgery. Twelve couples from the Mapleton Ma-pleton Lion Club enjoyed a Zone Banquet last week held at the Eldred Center in Provo. Lynn Bjarnson was one of the lucky prize winners. Mapleton Second Ward Relief Re-lief Society is planning on holding hold-ing their annual birthday party on March 15 at 7 p.m. with their partners. A turkey dinner will be served to them by the Mapleton Third Ward Relief Society and they in turn will serve at the Mapleton Third Ward's birthday party to be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. Mrs. Laura Bennett is in charge of arrangements. An open house is being held on March 16 in Springville to honor newlyweds, Mr .and Mrs. Tom Clements. Mrs. Clements is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. LaVell Bird of Mapleton Maple-ton and Mr. Clements is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Reed Clements Cle-ments of Springville. Mr. and Mrs. George Soren-son Soren-son and Mr. and Mrs. LaVere Tippetts returned Sunday evening eve-ning after a delightful ten-day vacation to the Carribean. |
