Show Left foot amputated Soldier insured in Vieffiom Air Force Base in California, Sunday, March 10. From Travis, Trav-is, he was flown to Fltzsim-mons Fltzsim-mons Army Hospital in Denver where he will be treated further fur-ther and recuperate for the next six weeks. In a telephone conversation with his parents, Larry reported report-ed that he was in satisfactory condition. He stated he had not heard concerning other members mem-bers of his group with him at the time of the explosion. Pfc. Weight entered the service ser-vice June 13, 1967 and toolf his basic at Fort Bliss, Texas prior to completing his jungk warfare training at Fort Polk Louisiana. He received his combat com-bat citation in Vietnam aboul a month ago. Pfc. Larry D. Weight, son of Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Weight, was injured in Vietnam, where he has been fighting with the First Air Cavalry Division (air mobile) since December 1. Pfc. Weight, with five other men were on night patrol duty between Hue and Quang Tri when they encountered a boobie trap in their search for the enemy and Larry received a blast in the left foot, which had to be amputated just above the ankle. He received less severe wounds to the right foot and the right elbow. His buddy directly behind him was killed and another to the right of him received the impact into in-to his mid section causing severe se-vere wounds. The mishap occurred oc-curred March 3. After the foot had been amputated, am-putated, Pfc. Weight was flown to a hospital near Tokyo, Japan Ja-pan and then flown to Travis |
