Show Opening plans announced IPifcAp mwe far (BiiMMti With the approach of the April Art Month, and the arrival ar-rival of many fine paintings from all parts of the United States for the big annual event, renewed activity is noted at the high school art gallery. Looking over just a few of the first arrivals, would indicate indi-cate that the show this year will be a great one. Leon Kroll of New York, has sent a gorgeous gor-geous 42 by 26 entry valued at some $9000. Emil Gruppe, whose painting the high school recently purchased, and who is a longtime favorite exhibitor, will again be represented. Pictures have already arrived from such noted artists as Umberto Rominio of New York; Freemont Ellis of New Mexico; Marguerite Pehrson of Rockport, Mass. ; Antonio Mar-tino, Mar-tino, Paul Lauritz, Marie A. Hull, Conrad Schwiering of : - - .. i '; , . - - -. . - . Jackson Hole and many others. Most of the artists entering this year, are well known nationally. na-tionally. Many are from the east although practically every section of the country is represented. rep-resented. No doubt, visitors to the gallery gal-lery this year, will be interested interest-ed in Stanley Woodward's beautiful painting, "The Lob-sterman." Lob-sterman." A noted marine and landscape painter, etcher, writer, writ-er, veteran of two world wars, Mr. Woodward lives in Rock-port, Rock-port, Mass., and is described as a typical New Englander. He conducted the Woodward Outdoor School of Painting at Rockport for 30 summers and special assignments to teach have taken him from the east to the west coast, shthofe rsetss C-anhisorco ,B At a meeting of the art board this week, presided over by President W. W. Clyde, it was decided to open the exhibit ex-hibit Sunday, March 31. It will continue through the month of April and the exhibit will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. including Saturday and Sunday. Other details will be published each week. POPULAR ENTRY Expected to be a favorite among the many fine paintings at the annual National April Art Exhibit here this year is "The Lobsterman," a marine scene in oil by the noted artist, Stanley Woodward of Rockport, Massachusetts. A distinguished landscape painter, etcher, art ; teacher and writer, Mr. Woodward has exhibited ex-hibited and taught on assignment from the ! east to the west coast in the past few years. |
