Springville couple will mark golden date at open house Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Bird, 1201 E. 1000 So., will be honored hon-ored at an open house reception, recep-tion, commemorating their golden gol-den wedding anniversary, Saturday. Sat-urday. March 16. Relatives and friends are invited to call at Barts Catering, 544 South Main, from 2 until 5 p.m. They request no gifts. Married in the Salt Lake Temple, March 13, 1918, Mr. and Mrs. Bird have lived in the First Ward all their married life. Mr. Bird was born in Springville Spring-ville May 1, 1898, a son of Walter Wal-ter and Lucinda Childs Bird. He has farmed most of his adult life and in recent years has engaged in the poultry business. He served as president presi-dent of the local Utah Poultry Poul-try and Farmers Cooperative Organization and was a member mem-ber of the Springville Irrigation Irriga-tion Board some 30 years. He is an elder in the LDS Church. Mrs. Bird (Lucille) was born at Birdseye, Aug. 28, 1901, a daughter of Charles and Florence Flor-ence Sargent Windward. She spent her early life in that community and her parents later la-ter moved to Idaho. She has been active in church work and served as a Relief Society teacher tea-cher a number of years. Ill health has confined her to her home much of the time but she takes a special interest in her home and garden. The couple has two sons and two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Reva) Greder of Oxnard, California; Cal-ifornia; Roy W., Marion and Marvin D. Bird all of Springville. Spring-ville. They have 15 grandchildren grandchil-dren and two great grandchildren. |
