Show Home Culture Club enjoys program Members of the Home Culture Cul-ture Club were guests of Mrs. Vera Watts and Mrs. Mildred Boorman, at a regular meeting, Friday afternoon, at Brown's Cafe. Sixteen members enjoyed a program presented by Mrs. Maurice Bird. She told how she began her music career and what it had meant in her life and played several selections during the program. She explained that she first played the organ and then the piano and played by ear at the age of two years. Later she was school accompanist accom-panist and played for students to march in and out of school. She began taking lessons at nine years, and often played for her father and an aunt who sang at various programs and on the radio. Mrs. Bird paid a special tribute tri-bute to her parents and to her husband and family for what they had done to help her with her music career and make it possible for her to continue with her love of music and entertain en-tertain for others. Also as a part of the program. Mrs. Bird displayed some of her handiwork handi-work and pictures of her sons and daughters and her grandchildren. grand-children. During a short business meeting, the club named Mrs. Jane Strong president for the coming year; Mrs. Mary Friel, vice president and Mrs. Cleonda Miner, secretary, the latter being be-ing .reelected... - - |
