Show Devils travel to Provo for next league game tonight Springville's Red Devils will play the Provo Bulldogs tonight to-night in the Provo gym with tipoff at 8 p.m. The regular jayvee contest will precede the main game and starts at 6:15. The Bulldogs will be heavily favored because of their superior super-ior height and experience. In a mid-week scheduled contest, con-test, the Red Devils will play host to the Payson Lions Wednesday, Wed-nesday, January 19. The game will begin at the regular time with the jayvee contest starting start-ing at 6:15. Payson has one game In their win column to date. Despite leading the Dinosaurs Dino-saurs throughout the first half of play here Friday night, the Red Devils failed to maintain their first half lead of 30-27 and succumed to the Carbon team which outhusstled them in the second half to win 49-58. Both teams started with a zone defense, which kept the scoring somewhat lower than usual, in Friday's contest. The Carbon team took the tipoff and scored the first basket but the Devils tied it with Av-erett's Av-erett's shot and then the Dinos went ahead 4-2 but were never nev-er ahead again throughout the entire first half. Averett hit one of his long side shots and Felix, Walker, and Hanks assisted as-sisted as the Devils held a 16-10 halftime' lead. Groneman and Averett kept the scoring throughout the second sec-ond quarter with baskets, but Carbon edged closer and were only 3 points behind at half-time, half-time, 27-30. Springville was unable un-able to control one single tipoff tip-off throughout the first half. During the halftime the pep club put on an outstanding marching drill and the cheerleaders cheer-leaders performed some clever acts and cheer formations to add to the spirit of the contest. con-test. Springville maintained their lead through half of the third quarter but seemed to commn several fouls during the latter part of the quarter which allowed al-lowed the Dinos to overtake the Devils 37-39. During the final quarter, 14 foul shots were taken by the Dinos and they hit for 10 of these as they held the lead throughout the remainder of the contest. The Devils seemed to be off on their offensive fame and failed to move the ball fast enough to break up the zone defense. The Dinos caught the Devils flat footed on several occasions to steal the ball and drive in for a score. Top scorers for Springville were Averett with 17 and Felix Fe-lix with 11. Fry, Carlson and Jewkes with 17, 17 and 15 respectively re-spectively were high for Carbon. Car-bon. It was Carbon's first win and Springville's third consecutive consecu-tive loss of the season.
